In 2017, Walt Disney Imagineering unveiled “Project Gamma,” a multi-year master plan for the comprehensive reimagining of EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. As part of this transformative vision, Disney envisioned a landmark multi-level Festival Hall designed to serve as a central hub for the park’s signature annual festivals and special events. Fisher Dachs Associates was engaged to provide concept design and feasibility phase theatrical and audiovisual design services for the proposed venue. The flexible, highly adaptable facility was designed to support a wide range of programming across three distinct levels:
- Ground Level: A multi-use venue capable of housing everything from small conferences and atmosphere acts to large-scale staged concert performances.
- Second Level: An interactive Expo space dedicated to supporting EPCOT’s major seasonal festivals, featuring facilities for live cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, and dedicated media broadcast suites.
- Roof Level: An elevated viewing deck designed to accommodate both high-energy private events and casual park guest viewing for EPCOT’s iconic nighttime fireworks spectacles.
Note: The original Project Gamma Festival Hall concept was canceled in 2020 and subsequently reimagined into CommuniCore Hall & Plaza, which opened in 2024.
